Isaac R Kay: His parents were John Kay and Elizabeth
Boring. Two Kay brothers married 2 (twin sisters), Priscilla and Sally
Deakon? Isaac R. Kay and Ann Catherine Gordon are the parents of my
ggrandmother, Mary Ida Kay. She died in April of 1931 and is buried in
Arlington, IN East Hill Cemetery. Isaac R Kay was murdered in Plymouth IN.
However he was born in Ohio. He and Ann Catherine Gordon had several
children. The "Gordon Cemetery" is located near Arlington, IN on a private
farm.

THERE IS AN UPDATE ON THIS. HE WAS NOT MURDERED IT WAS AN ACCIDENTAL DEATH.

I have a copy from the newspaper reporting the coroner's inquest, and I would be glad to copy it for you. I got it from microfilm of (if I remember correctly) the Albion IN newspaper on one of my research trips to Indiana about 25 years ago. I will have to find it in my files - everything I have is on paper so it takes a while. I will not have time to do that right away - I will let you know when I have it in my hand and see what size and shape it is.

It was an accidental stabbing - the harness of the horse pulling the wagon broke on the way home on a dark night, Isaac was drunk and jumped or bumped his friend who was trying to repair the harness and his knife struck Isaac in the abdomen. Gory details in the newspaper. The friend took the two young boys - Isaac's kids were orphans. People did that back then.

In the 1850 census she is in Rush Co., Indiana with her parents under the name Anna C. Gordon b. 1842;
In the 1860 census she is in Marshall Co., Indiana with her parents under the name Anna C. Gardener b. 1843;
In the 1870 census she is in Walnut, Marshall Co., Indiana with her husband Isaac Kay under the name Annie C. Kay b. 1844;
One record for her marriage lists Isaac Kay m. Anna Gordon, while another lists Anna Goodon.
So I've narrowed the wife down to Anna/Annie C (Catherine) Gordon/Gardener/Goodon b. 1842/3/4 in Indiana. Her father is Hesekiah Gordon/Gardener b. 1818/20 Her mother is Mary M (nickname "Polly") b. 1818/19 Both parents born in Kentucky. And there you have Florence's mother in a nut shell

Gen 5. Mildred Ileen Petty (1926-??) m Mr. Smith AND Dorothy LaVaughn Petty (1928-1991) m. Virgil L Adkins.
Gen 6. Maggie Thomlinson is the daughter (or DIL) of Mildred

*Oran/Orin & Ellsworth were taken to MI and raised by Peter Etlicker (who stabbed their father). Orin froze to death in a snow drift while under the influence of alcohol in St. Joseph, MI before 1918. Ellsworth married and had two daughters. He lived and died near St. Joseph , MI . (The Langes notes indicated he died in IL, but the obituary shows MI. Other info which is conflicting: Ellsworth died 1900 MI, Berrien Co., St. Joseph , MI ; there is a Berrien Co. in MI.)

Isaac R Kay was born in 1837 in Coch. Ohio and died 6/23/1878
in Plymouth IN. Isaac R. was the son of John Kay who married Elizabeth
Boring.
