PostSubject: Message from one of Grant's Grandaughters   Tue Nov 29, 2011 3:45 pm

I got another message from my Beloved Helen.. I swear.. I love her.. anywho.. here is what she has to say today..

So far, I think you have more than I do, all the cemetery pictures , even Peter and Elizabeth Hazen Hendricks. many pictures I don't have, but don't know what they are. I think Rollie got the bible pages that harold Lange passed about. so I don't know what to send you.

I am into the family by Addie Hendricks Williams Bissell, she was the 3 child born to Grant and Florence. in 1890 in Custer county,NE died July 7, 1970

Maybe you are getting Peter Wagner Hendricks, confused with some one. Peter went off to the Civil War in 1861 and reupped in 1863. He was last heard of in Brownsville ,TX in 1865 he was called a deserter on nov.7 1865. the war was over in June of 1865 I have searched all military and National Archives, and do not find him. He was Grants oldest brother., 2nd child of Henry and Rebecca.-
He inlisted in 34th Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry on 16 sept 1861. Threr are records of both enlistments. There is a newer book, The Last FURY . all about this reg.

I am most 83 years old, and I am tired, so if I make a few mistakes try me again. Have a great THanksgiving. Helen
